Embodied Studies: A Masterclass for Movement Professionals and Somatic Explorers
In this 90 minute session, we will first introduce a technical topic (such as a specific joint, muscle group, anatomical system, or movement principle). This brief but technically nuanced anatomical snippet will offer a what and why that serve as the foundation for the exploratory 60-70 minute movement practice that follows. This introspective physical practice draws from various somatic influences to facilitate your ability to research, within your own body, how awareness of the what and why impacts the possibilities, limitations, impact, and perception of your own movement capacity.
These masterclasses are geared toward anyone with professional or pre-professional movement experience, as well as anyone somatically curious who feels inspired by the idea of exploring and inhabiting your body through an anatomical lens.
Inquiry: Movement Education, Exploration, and Discussion
An intelligent, embodied exploration of biomechanical truths, this class focuses on an anatomical or physiological theme as a lens through which we can experience our body. Inquiry visits the chosen theme academically first, providing a chance to (re)familiarize yourself with technical details, before diving into a focused movement practice that offers chances to sense, locate, and apply that information to an exploration of the boundaries of your movement capacity.
